SRA-Europe 2011 Annual Meeting

Multi-risk analysis in a global world

The SRA Europe Meeting in 2011 will be held from 6 – 8 June in Stuttgart, Germany. The conference aims to facilitate exchange of experiences from different disciplines, fields and application areas. The conference theme will span across the broad range of risk issues, with a special focus on 5 themes: multi-risk analysis; disaster risk management and natural hazards; emerging public health threats; perceiving and communicating risk; and governance, dialogue and engagement:

The call for papers to the conference has resulted in a very positive response. Over 150 abstracts and a number of interesting proposals for symposia have been submitted and the review process is under way. We are pleased to see so many European countries represented, as well as contributions from around the globe.

The plenary sessions will include keynote addresses from various fields of risk research. Confirmed speakers so far include Professor Ellen Peters, Professor Terje Aven, and Professor Charles Vlek.

The conference will run in parallel with the iNTeg-Risk conference on the same topic, providing delegates from SRAE the possibility to attend iNTeg-Risk sessions and vice-versa. In a Joint Plenary session with iNTegRisk, keynotes will be given by Professor William Leiss, Professor Eugene Rosa and Dr. Atsuo Kishimoto.

The conference dinner will take place on Tuesday 7th evening, providing the delegates with an opportunity to enjoy the special taste of Swabian cuisine and wine, and to mix with delegates with iNTeg-Risk conference.

Registration for the conference will open shortly and full details will be available here on the website. Remember: SRA members who choose to be affiliated to the SRA-Europe (40 dollars equalling 30 euro’s) when they renew their 2011 membership, will receive a reduction equivalent to at least 80 euro’s on the conference fee.
